Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
At ECU Tuning Tools, we are dedicated to developing high-quality ECU optimization files to improve your vehicle's performance professionally and safely. It is essential that you understand that our services are limited to the development and supply of these software files. The customer is solely responsible for the physical manipulation of their vehicle's ECU, as well as the correct use of programming tools. Here we answer the most common questions about our services.
General Information about Chiptuning/Remapping
A: Chiptuning, or Engine Control Unit (ECU) remapping, involves modifying the software that manages your vehicle's engine. We provide you with an optimized software file. You, using your own compatible programming tools, are the one who writes this file to your vehicle's ECU. Manufacturers usually program the original software with wide margins. We optimize these parameters to improve performance, throttle response, and even fuel efficiency, always within the engine's safe limits.
A: Manufacturers design their engines for a wide variety of global conditions, fuel qualities, emission regulations, and driver profiles. Our remapping files allow you to customize your vehicle's performance, leveraging your engine's real potential according to your needs.
A: Yes, our chiptuning files are developed by experienced professionals and are designed to be safe when applied correctly by the customer. At ECU Tuning Tools, we always work within the tolerance and safety margins established by the manufacturer for each engine. It is crucial that the process of reading the original file and writing the modified file to the ECU be performed with appropriate professional tools and following correct procedures. The customer is solely responsible for ensuring the good mechanical and general condition of their vehicle before any modification, as we do not perform prior diagnostics on it. ECU Tuning Tools is exempt from responsibility for malpractice in ECU manipulation, use of inadequate tools, or for pre-existing, mechanical, or hidden faults in the vehicle. A quality file, correctly installed by the customer in a vehicle in good condition, should not shorten the engine's lifespan if driven responsibly.
A: In principle, most modern vehicles with a reprogrammable ECU can benefit from our files. The best results are usually obtained in turbocharged engines. If you have doubts about your specific vehicle, contact us!
A: In many cases, yes, especially with our "ECO Tuning" files. The exact savings will depend on the vehicle, driving style, and routes.
Our Detailed Services
A:
- Stage 1: It's an optimized software file, designed for stock vehicles (without major mechanical modifications). It seeks the best balance between increased power, torque, and reliability. It's ideal for daily use once loaded into the ECU. (Indicative price: From €35.00)
- Stage 2: This remapping file is intended for vehicles that already have some hardware modifications (e.g., sports exhaust system, high-flow air filter, improved intercooler, etc.). The software adapts to these improvements to obtain superior performance after correct installation. (Indicative price: From €55.00)
A: Yes, we also develop files for transmission control unit (TCU) optimization.
- Gearbox Stg1: Improves shift times, optimizes shift points, and can increase gearbox torque limiters if safe. (Indicative price: From €40.00)
- Gearbox Stg2: A more advanced version for users seeking faster and more aggressive shifts. Adapts to gearboxes that support more intensive modifications. (Indicative price: From €60.00)
A: ECO Tuning is specifically designed to reduce fuel consumption. We optimize mainly injection maps, turbo pressure, and other parameters related to the engine's energy efficiency, without excessively compromising its daily operation. (Indicative price: From €30.00)
A: Our deactivation services consist of modifying the ECU software to nullify the operation of certain vehicle systems that can cause problems, high maintenance costs, or recurring failures:
- DPF OFF: Deactivates the diesel particulate filter, eliminating forced regenerations and related error codes. (Indicative price: €25.00)
- EGR OFF: Nullifies the exhaust gas recirculation system, reducing engine carbonization. (Indicative price: €25.00)
- AdBlue OFF: Deactivates the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, eliminating urea consumption. (Indicative price: €35.00)
- Lambda/O2 OFF: Deactivates lambda probes to avoid error codes after exhaust modifications. (Indicative price: €25.00)
- DTC OFF: Eliminates specific error codes selected by the customer. (Indicative price: €15.00)
Work Process and Deadlines
A: The legality of deactivations varies according to each country's legislation and vehicle use. It is the customer's responsibility to verify and comply with all applicable local laws and regulations before requesting any deactivation. In many countries, these modifications are permitted for competition vehicles, closed circuit use, or industrial/agricultural applications.
A: The process is simple and fast:
- Vehicle data: Brand, model, year, engine type, and original power.
- ECU information: Control unit brand and model.
- Original file: You must send us a complete and error-free reading of your current ECU (.bin, .ori, .hex, etc.).
- Desired services: Specify what type of optimization you want (Stage 1, Stage 2, ECO, deactivations, etc.).
- Additional comments: Any specific modification or detail you consider relevant.
A: Once all data is received and payment confirmed (if applicable), our delivery time is 15 minutes to 2 hours within our operating hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 19:00, CET). For orders received outside these hours, they will be processed the next business day.
A: You will receive the modified file in the same format you sent us (.bin, .ori, .hex, etc.), ready to write directly to your ECU. The ECU writing process is performed by you with your programming tool (Kess, CMD, Alientech, MPPS, etc.). We only provide the optimized software file.

A: Our files are compatible with most professional tools on the market: Kess V2/V3, CMD Flash, Alientech Kess/K-Tag, MPPS, PCMflash, BitEdit, FGTech, etc. If you have doubts about compatibility with your specific tool, contact us before placing the order.
A: Yes, we work with the main ECU brands and models: Bosch (EDC17, MED17, etc.), Continental (SID, PCR), Siemens (SIM), Delphi, Denso, Marelli (former Magneti Marelli), Valeo, and many others. If you have a specific ECU and are not sure, send us the data and we will confirm feasibility.
faqSecurityTitle
A: Some modern ECUs incorporate protections that require special reading/writing methods (BDM, JTAG, etc.). In these cases, we will advise you on the correct procedure and necessary tools. Performing these technical processes is the customer's responsibility.
